I spent years building and operating a disability support business navigating the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, managing compliance, leading teams, handling rostering and workforce challenges, and working out how to make a care business financially sustainable.
It wasn't always easy. There were audits, policy changes, COVID, pricing reviews, and the constant pressure of running a regulated care environment while most importantly maintaining quality for the people we supported and our team. I learned what works, what doesn't, and what actually matters when it comes to building a business in this sector.
I'm also a parent who has navigated the NDIS as a family member which means I understand the system from the participant's perspective, not just the provider's. That dual view informs everything about how I approach my work with providers.
When I transitioned into consulting and mentoring, I did it because I kept seeing the same problems. Providers who were overwhelmed and under-supported. New entrants making avoidable mistakes because no one had sat down with them and explained what actually mattered.
